Poros the Great by Buddha Prakash

This is a revised history by Buddha Prakash, an academic, whose research employs and combines many Greek sources as well as many sources outside of Greece. He questions the conclusions that Greek historians have made which say that Alexander the Great defeated Poros in the war in India. He implies that neither of them came out victorious after the battle. Among his many arguments is the claim that Poros, the King, was probably not wounded during the battle. But his son, also named Poros, was wounded. And by accounts of all historians, Alexander after the war gave more territory to Poros to rule than what Poros had before the war. Based upon Alexander’s ruthlessness, he questions Greek historians’ claims of Alexander’s supposed generosity and magnanimity.
